JAMMU, Oct 6: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Sanjeev Verma and Prof Dr G K Rath, Head, National Cancer Institute, AIIMS New Delhi, inaugurated a live cancer awareness workshop ‘Crab e Thon and Chaturth conference of Lajwanti Bhagat Nath Radiations of Hope (LBNRH) ‘Crabecon 2018’ at Jammu.
The Conference was held under aegis of Association of Radiation Oncologists of India, North Zone. Crabethon is supposed to be the first of its kind Teleoncothon live for 24 hours at stretch. This workshop was held on sidelines of Crabecon Chaturth, 4th Conference of LBNRH in succession.
Crabethon connected oncologists, specialist doctors, administration and civil society who started deliberating on issues related to Cancer. Live cancer awareness workshop began at 12 noon and will be for 24 hours at stretch till 12 noon on 7th October.
As soon as the workshop begins, people started connecting with this unique fund raising event on LBN Radiations of Hope Facebook page, Twitter handle, a specially created YouTube channel ‘Crab Drishti’, besides on website www.lbnrohcancare.org.
Divisional Commissioner, in his address, said that such kind of events should also be held in far removed areas and appealed medical fraternity to work with missionary zeal for Cancer patients.
Dr Deepak Abrol, convener of Crabecon Chaturth and Crabethon-Teleoncothon said that it is important to aware the public that about 60 percent of cancer is preventable and adopting healthy life styles, leaving tobacco and controlling HPV, and HBV through vaccination programs can reduce cancer load.
On the occasion, Amit Sharma, a senior KAS officer in J&K Government was honored with LBN Sword of Honor for his untiring efforts in cause of Cancer awareness.
The event was supported by Maharishi Dayanand Hospital and Medical Research Centre, J&K Bank, Fortofino by Silverlines, Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Mice Ideas, Euphoria Infotech and various corporate, business and pharma houses.
