
‘J&K’s spiritual heritage is dynamic asset’

JAMMU, Jan 13: Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha on Tuesday launched the special edition of ‘Sangarmal’ magazine published by Hindu Education Society Kashmir, at Gandhi Memorial Camp College, Raipur Jammu.
In his address, the Lieutenant Governor spoke on social cohesion and use of cultural-spiritual heritage and education as a unifying thread to create a blueprint for the thriving future. He emphasised on instilling values such as compassion, humility, and resilience to strengthen community bonds.
“In an era dominated by rapid technological growth and globalization, our timeless spiritual and cultural heritage, our shared beliefs, traditions, arts, rituals, and values will shape the society and fuel the holistic growth of the nation,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
The Lieutenant Governor said that the Union Territory’s ancient cultural heritage and spiritual wisdom is the invisible force that will propel societal growth.
“Jammu Kashmir’s rich spiritual heritage is a dynamic asset. Since Vedic ages, the traditional values acted as our guiding principles which built ethical foundation for overall growth.
For J&K to grow, our citizens must become more innovative, focus on intellectual growth to take great leaps in research and development, promote creative industries and invest in heritage,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
The Lieutenant Governor commended the Hindu Education Society, Kashmir (HESK) for its dedicated efforts in raising public awareness regarding culture, social responsibilities and the transformative power of education.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Secretary, Atal Dulloo congratulated the HEESK for publishing Sangarmal a research digest. He said publishing of such research magazines is a good step. He said the subjects discussed in the magazine are important for us as it presents entire picture before the people .
Lauding the role of LG Manoj Sinha, he said the work done by him in the field of education is unprecedented. He said HESK has not kept this institute alive but taken it forward also.
In his address HESK president, Prof B L Zutshi said Gandhi Memorial College was established in 1943 and its founders were the iconic minds of the community who established HIndhu Education Society. He said however there was no grant in aid and the employees mostly worked selflessly for its promotion till 1975.
He said due to turmoil in 1990 the people were forced to leave. However the Society tried to run the Srinagar School but Government took it over. Later the School was established here and some philanthropists of the community including Ashok Raina donated liberally for the institute. He said it is society run institute and does not belong to any individual.
Prof Zutshi said that Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha always encouraged the management of the institute and issued directives for release of Grant in Aid. He however regretted that the same was not released till date.
Prof Vienna Pandita former Chairman J&K Board of School Education read a detailed paper on Sangarmal. The Commissioner Secretary School Education, Ram Niwas Sharma in his address assured all support to HESK.
The stage was managed by Ramesh Marhata a well known broadcaster.
Padma Dr KN Pandita, Vice Chancellor Mata Vaishno Devi University, Prof Pragti Kumar, Dr Ashok Bhan former DGP, Kuldeep Khuda former Chief Vigilance commissioner, Prof Ashok Aima ex VC Central University Jammu, Dr Arvind Karwani Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner, office bearers of HESK and prominent citizens from different walks of life were present.
