JAMMU, Dec 22: 70th foundation day of Northern Zone Insurance Employees’ Association (NZIEA), representing LIC employees of Northern Zone was observed by NZIEA Srinagar Division in the leadership of Pawan Gupta, divisional secretary of the Association.
On the occasion, flag of the Association was hoisted jointly by joint secretary Rajesh Kumar, Priya Sharma (women convener) and other members of the Association.
Speaking on the occasion, Pawan Gupta said that NZIEA was formed on 22 December 1956, and 70th foundation day is being observed all over the Northern Zone today. He strongly condemned the move of the Government to hike FDI in insurance sector to 100 percent through passage of Insurance Laws Amendment Bill 2025.
He said that LIC employees under the banner have been able to protect LIC till date by its struggles and it will continue to fight against the policies of the Central Government, which are leading to selling of public sector, inflation, unemployment, loss of jobs,etc.
Gupta said the Association has fought successfully against the then fatal automation in sixties in LIC, lockout declared by the management of LIC in 1974, Government move of splitting LICI into five independent corporations, bonus case in Supreme Court, absorption of temporary employees, etc.
He also spoke about the sacrifices of the previous leaders due to which we, the LIC employees have achieved due rights. He stressed the need for broader level unity of the working class to fight the anti-people, anti-farmer, anti-working class, anti-youth policies of the Government.
Others present were Raj Kumar-treasuer, Shunali Gupta, Neeraj Bhagat-women sub-committee, Dharminder Kumar, Vishav Jaral, Manmeet Singh, and others.
The programme at Srinagar was led by Aadil, Amarjeet Singh, Ajaz Ah Dar, Javed Bukhari while the event was organized at Jammu-2 by R P Singh and Karan Kumar, Kathua by Vijay Verma and Mohan Lal, Samba by Surat Singh, R SPura by Jagdish and Rajesh Sapolia, Udhampur by Anjesh Sharma, Rajouri by Vinod Sharma and Poonch by Raj Kumar.
