JAMMU, Feb 1: The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, released a Hindi poem titled “Begampura Ki Paribhasha”, scripted by Balbir Ram Rattan, national general secretary, Indian Branch of British Ravidassia Heritage Foundation, on the auspicious occasion of the 649th Jayanti of Guru Ravidass.
The poem reflects upon the timeless and transformative vision of Begampura, as envisioned by Guru Ravidass Ji – a society rooted in equality, justice, and human dignity.
While releasing the poem, the LG lauded the creative effort of the author for presenting profound philosophical ideals in a simple yet powerful poetic form that resonates with contemporary society.
Kavinder Gupta said that the Begampura vision of Guru Ravidass is a blueprint for an ideal society, free from fear, discrimination, caste divisions, and economic exploitation. He emphasized that Begampura represents a social order where all citizens enjoy equal rights, opportunities, and respect, irrespective of birth, status, or belief. “It is a vision of governance without oppression, of communities without hierarchy, and of human relationships built on compassion and mutual respect,” he stated.
The LG Ladakh further noted that the message of Begampura holds immense relevance in present times, as societies across the world grapple with inequality, intolerance, and social fragmentation. He observed that Guru Ravidass Ji’s philosophy transcends time and geography, offering moral guidance for building inclusive, harmonious, and just communities.
Gupta also appreciated Balbir Ram Rattan for his continued literary contributions that highlight social reform, spiritual wisdom, and constitutional values. He remarked that literature and poetry play a vital role in preserving cultural heritage and inspiring social consciousness among future generations.
Balbir Ram Rattan expressed gratitude to the LG for releasing the poem and for acknowledging the universal values embedded in Guru Ravidass Ji’s teachings. He stated that “Begampura Ki Paribhasha” is an attempt to reinterpret the saint’s vision for modern society, encouraging readers to reflect on equality, empathy, and collective responsibility.
