*Lays foundation stone of Dhunseri Polyfilm Ltd at Kathua

SAMBA, June 8: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today inaugurated the Nutraj’s State-of-the-art flagship Nuts & Dryfruit processing plant here.
The Lieutenant Governor congratulated Gagan Jain, Director, VKC Nuts Private Limited and all the members on the commencement of the new facility for Processing of Nuts, Dryfruit and value-added products.
He said, the cutting-edge industrial unit will drive J&K UT’s growth and aspirations and also act as an engine of economic and social progress for Samba and adjoining areas.
“First of its kind unit in border area is proof of our resolve to take UT to the pinnacle of progress. This Unit is already creating local jobs and boosting local income and I am confident it will improve living standards while increasing disposable income for families,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
The Lieutenant Governor, in his address, highlighted the key reforms and progressive policies of the J&K Administration fostering industrial growth and ensuring sustainable and inclusive economic development.
“J&K is on the move. The rise of Crown Jewel of India is one of the greatest stories of the 21st Century. I sincerely believe, with a large pool of skilled human resources and tremendous potential for growth, J&K will occupy its rightful place in developed UTs of India,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
He said the New Industrial Policy in April 2021, the first planned industrialization after independence under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has ensured industrial transformation.
“J&K has become one of the most advanced UTs in the country in terms of modern physical infrastructure and digital infrastructure.
The rapid growth of infrastructure and increased connectivity in J&K UT between 2021 and 2024 was evident in economic activity, exports and GDP growth. Millions of our citizens are fulfilling their decade-long aspirations,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
On the occasion, the Lieutenant Governor asked the Vice Chancellor SKUAST Jammu to work in collaboration with the VKC NUTs Private Limited for walnut production, benefiting the farmers engaged in the sector. He further asked the VKC Nuts Private Limited to facilitate the export of local Cherry production.
Nutraj’s flagship Nuts & Dryfruit processing unit will provide direct employment to over 400 local youths, 70% of which will be women.
Keshav Dutt Sharma, Chairman, DDC, Samba; Members of Legislative Assembly – Surjit Singh Slathia, Chander Parkash Ganga, Dr Devinder Kumar Manyal; Vikramjit Singh, Commissioner Secretary Industries and Commerce Department; Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner Jammu; Bhim Sen Tuti, IGP Jammu; Rajesh Sharma, Deputy Commissioner Samba; Heads of various departments and trade organisations and prominent citizens from different walks of life were present.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor laid the foundation stone of Dhunseri Polyfilm Limited Industrial Unit in Dohlian Jattan Village in Kathua.
In his address, Sinha extended his felicitations to the Chairman, Dhunseri Group of Industries, Chandra Kumar Dhanuka, all the members of the Dhunseri Group, officials of J&K Industries Department and the District Administration and conveyed his best wishes for the upcoming state-of-the-art BOPP Production unit in Kathua.
He said the project will create thousands of jobs for local youth, foster local economic upliftment and create massive business opportunities in the surrounding rural areas.
The Lieutenant Governor highlighted that, in the last few years, J&K has witnessed a completely new work culture focussed on industrial growth that benefits all sections of society.
“Massive infrastructure development is stimulating rapid economic growth of J&K, which will soon become the principal market of north, a manufacturing hub and a competitive provider of services,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
Sinha observed that the young and skilled work force of J&K is our strength and they will drive the future growth of our economy.
“We are witnessing an era of rising aspirations. Our youth are dedicated to creating a vibrant and industrious society and they have taken their destiny into their own hands and are shaping a brighter future for UT,” he further said.
The Lieutenant Governor reiterated his commitment to decentralizing the industrial infrastructure and creating opportunities in underdeveloped regions of J&K UT.
“Unless industries are established, development will remain a dream. Due to the progressive Industrial Policy, regions like Jammu, Kathua, Samba are achieving new milestones in the industrial sector.
“From policy initiative to implementation on the ground, incredible achievements have been made for industrial growth of J&K. We have placed special emphasis on industries that will empower the local economy.”
Transparent governance has improved management of resources. The rule of law has ensured that all stakeholder institutions, including Government officials, are accountable,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
He also commended the significant contribution of Dhunseri Group to India’s manufacturing sector.
Spread over an area of about 300 kanals in Dholia Jattan village, the project, targeted to be commissioned in 2026, will be constructed in two phases with a combined installed capacity of 1,28,400 TPA, and will generate 1000 employment opportunities.
