“League of Classics” : U-19 Volleyball Touney begins at Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, Apr 25: Directorate of Youth Services and Sports (YSS), Jammu & Kashmir today inaugurated its flagship sports initiative, “League of Classics,” at Udhampur, marking the commencement of the inter-district stage of the competition across the Union Territory.
The league, which began at the district level, has now progressed to a higher stage, bringing together top-performing teams under the patronage of Director General YSS, Anuradha Gupta. As part of the initiative, Udhampur is hosting the Inter-District U-19 Boys Volleyball Tournament from April 25 to April 28 with participation from 18 districts.
Garib Dass (ADGP), Director SKPA Udhampur, inaugurated the tournament as chief guest in the presence of Amrit Pal Singh, SSP Udhampur; Manoj Kumar, Second Commandant, 137 Bn CRPF; and Subash Chander Gupta, Chief Education Officer, Udhampur, who attended as special guests. Among others present were Manoj Kumar, Principal; Sandeep Bhat, ASP Udhampur; and Ashok Padha, president, District Volleyball Association Udhampur.
The inaugural function featured a colourful cultural programme and administration of the Nasha Mukt pledge, following which the chief guest formally declared the tournament open.
The event, which will continue till April 28, will witness competitive matches among teams from across the Union Territory. It is being conducted under the supervision of departmental officials, with Vijay Kumar, ZPEO Panchari, as overall venue incharge and Jyoti Rani, ZPEO Chenani, as convener of the technical committee. Jasvinder Singh, PEM, and Suresh Pal from the DYSSO Office Udhampur are serving as organizing secretaries.
Senior PEMs Vinod Khajuria, Sanjay Sharma, Naveen Sharma, Nisha Kumari and Amit Sharma (PET) are actively assisting in the smooth conduct of the tournament.
