JAMMU, Dec 9: LEAD (L JK Economic Growth and Development Dialogue) today announced the third annual Mahotsav – Jammu Kashmir Ladakh will be held from December 19 to December 21 at GGM Science College Ground, here.
In response to increasing participation and regional interest, this year’s Mahotsav will be held over three days, showcasing the rich culture and entrepreneurial spirit of Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir, said Harinder Gupta, convenor, LEAD, while talking to reporters here, today.
He shared that the Mahotsav will feature over 120 stalls showcasing local handicrafts, traditional cuisines, and innovative startup ventures from across the region. The three-day event will also include cultural performances, art exhibitions, adventure activities, and student competitions, ensuring vibrant community participation.
He further informed that each day of the Mahotsav will be dedicated to one of the three regions-Day 1 to Ladakh, Day 2 to Jammu and Day 3 to Kashmir-spotlighting their unique cultures, crafts, food and traditions. The Mahotsav aims to become a grand celebration of diversity and unity, bringing together people from all three regions on a single platform of shared pride and progress. Rajesh Gupta, core member, LEAD, and event in-charge, highlighted that the Mahotsav will follow the framework of ‘Panch Parivartan’ emphasizing inner awareness, civic duty, environmental consciousness, social harmony and family values. “These principles remind us that progress is complete only when rooted in culture and collective responsibility,” he said.
He also shared details of the key programmes lined up for Mahotsav 2025, including Guru Teg Bahadur Saheedi Prastuti, Sabrang (for school and college students), Rang Tarang (cultural performances), Khel Darshan (traditional games and sports), Natyotsav (social issue-based plays and theatre acts), Maha Aarti (Tawi Aarti), Gatka, and several other attractions.
Sanjeev Sharma, another core member of the LEAD and media in charge, stated that Mahotsav 2025 serves as a platform to empower local businesses, nurture entrepreneurship, and inspire self-reliance among the youth and community. “The Mahotsav reflects our commitment to promote sustainable development, encouraging innovation and preserving cultural heritage,” he said. He said LEAD is a platform, first of its kind, a citizens’ initiative of likeminded individuals and professionals working towards sustainable development of the Union Territories of Ladakh and Jammu & Kashmir.
The press conference was also attended by other prominent Core Member of LEAD, including Kamal Kishore Sharma, along with key members Raman Suri, Vishal Abrol, CA Lalit Gupta, Chander Mohan Sharma, Vijay Johar, Purnima Sharma, Nidhi Dogra, Avtar Singh Khalsa, Karunesh Gupta, RK Chibber who collectively reiterated their commitment to the success of Mahotsav 2025.
