CM lays wreaths on bodies, visits residences of cops

JAMMU, Mar 29: The last rites of four police personnel who attained martyrdom on Friday while fighting Pakistani terrorists in Jakhole village in Kathua district were performed with full State honours in their respective native villages of Chamba in Panthal block of Reasi district, village Mattu in tehsil Khour of Jammu district, Londi and Kanna Chak villages in Hiranagar tehsil of Kathua district today.

Thousands of people and mourners from all walks of life joined the funeral processions in the respective villages of these martyrs whose bodies were covered with Tricolour and taken in well decorated police vehicles to their native villages.

The family members, relatives and friends of the martyrs were in grave shock and they were sobbing and wailing. The tampers ran high against Pakistan for sponsoring terrorism in J&K. While family members and relatives of martyrs feel proud of the valiant cops who laid down their lives for the great national cause, the temper of youth ran high against Pakistan and they demanded tough action against enemy country.
The villagers in large numbers rushed to the residences of the martyrs to have their last glimpse and pay the last respects to them. The close relatives of the martyrs were in grave shock and words failed to console them.
To accord a special respect to martyr Tariq Ahmed, son of Qadir Hussain of Chamba village of block Panthel in Reasi district, his body was laid to rest in his farm near by his house on the insistence of his family members and relatives with full honours after performing “Namaz -e-Jinazah”.
Earlier wreaths were laid on his body by MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, former BJP president Ravinder Raina, MLA Mata Vaishno Devi constituency, Baldev Raj Sharma, DIG Udhampur, Rayees Ahmed, SSP, Reasi and other senior police and civil officers besides local political leaders and prominent citizens.
The martyr was presented a guard of honour by jawans of J&K Police for his supreme sacrifice also.
Both Jugal and Raina also accompanied the funeral procession and consoled the wailing family members.
Qadir Hussain, father of the martyr said he feels proud of his son who attained supreme sacrifice for his nation and he deserves to be buried in his ancestral land. The four year old daughter of martyr who was too small to comprehend what happened was helplessly looking towards her wailing mother and other relatives.
Later Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah also visited the residence of the martyr to pay his condolences. He also went to the grave and offered special prayers for the peace of the martyr.
Heart rendering scenes were witnessed at village Mattu in Khour tehsil of Jammu district as body of martyr, Head constable, Jasbir Singh , son of Bhola Ram reached the village this afternoon. While the family members of the martyr including his wife, mother, children and other relatives were in grave shock, the irate people of the area including youth raised anti Pakistan slogans and demanded a tough action against the neighbouring country for its misadventures.
The protesting mourners who marched with funeral procession to cremation ground raised slogans, Pakistan Murdabad (Down down Pakistan) and asked the Government to teach it a lesson once and for all.
Transport, Youth Service and Sports Minister, Satish Sharma, BJP leaders including MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, former party chief, Ravinder Raina and other senior civil and police officers visited the village to pay last respects to the martyr. They also participated in his funeral procession. The pyre was lit by his 14 year old son, Aaksh Choudhary amidst chanting of Vedic hymns and slogans “Jagbir Singh Amar Rahey”.
Earlier Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, Dy CM, Surinder Choudhary and Minister Satish Sharma laid wreaths at the body of martyr at Gulshan Ground Jammu. The wreath laying ceremony was also attended by senior police officers including DGP and other police officers. The martyr was presented a guard of honour by the jawans of J&K Police at Gulshan Ground.
The body of martyr Joginder Singh, son of Bhola Ram was later taken to his native village in a police vehicle.
The body of martyr Jaswant Singh, a Selection Grade in J&K Police who also laid down his life while fighting Pakistani terrorists in Jakhole village of Kathua district on Friday was cremated with full honours at his native village Londi in Hiranagar tehsil of Kathua district. Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah and other senior police and civil officers visited his residence and paid their last respects to the martyr. He was also given a guard of honour by the jawans of J&K Police and wreaths were laid on his body by the CM and other police and civil officers on the occasion. As the body reached the village, large number of people mostly youth on two wheelers with national Tricolours in their hands joined the procession up to his residence raising anti Pakistan slogans and “Jaswant Singh Amar Rahe”.
There were heart rendering scenes in the villages as women and other relatives were seen wailing and sobbing.
The body of martyr Balwinder Singh was also cremated at his native village Kanna Chak Hiranagar this afternoon with full State honours. A large number of mourners drawn from different parts of the area attended the funeral procession shouting anti Pak slogans. Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah also visited his residence to pay his last respects to the martyr and placed a wreath on his body.
The wreaths were also laid on martyrs’ body by police, civil officers and prominent citizens. He was also presented guard of honour by jawans of J&K Police.
Former Minister and senior Congress leader, Choudhary Lal Singh also joined the funeral processions in Hiranagar.
