Langeh demands development of Gupteshwar Mahadev Shrine

UDHAMPUR, June 28: Former MLA Neelam Langeh paid obeisance at the ‘Gupteshwar Mahadev Shrine’ near Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee Tunnel, Chenani, today after which he made a fervent appeal to the Government to bring this shrine on the UT’s Tourist Map besides developing it appropriately with adequate facilities for the devotees visiting this shrine.
During his visit to the Shrine, the committee members apprised the former MLA about the requisite facilities at the Shrine. Langeh impressed upon the Government to initiate measures for proper development of this significant religious shrine in Jammu province. He said that Jammu province has a huge potential for religious tourism provided the Government pays due attention towards bringing various religious destinations including the ‘Gupteshwar Mahadev Shrine’ which is also called as Chhota Amarnath in this region on the tourism map of the Union Territory.
The BJP leader said that lakhs of people register their foot fall in Katra while going to pay obeisance at the revered Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine every year besides as many visiting Patnitop both in summer and winter and this newly discovered ‘Gupteshwar Mahadev Shrine’ after getting properly developed by the Government being in the close vicinity will undoubtedly become a must visit place for the tourists visiting Vaishno Devi and Patnitop.
Langeh said that it is an open secret that the economy of this Union Territory to a great extent depends on tourism sector, therefore by bringing the ‘Gupteshwar Mahadev Shrine’ on the Tourist Map it would augur well to boost the economy of the area besides providing self employment opportunities to the youth of this area.
Meanwhile, hundreds of devotees had gathered at the cave shrine to pay obeisance to Lord Shiva despite lack of facilities.
