JAMMU, Sept 27: Former MLA Ramban, Ashok Kumar along with several landslide victim families from Dalwas (Ramban) staged a protest demonstration against the Government for delay in providing justice to victim families of village Dalwas who lost their livelihood after landslide in their village triggered by “unscientific cutting of slopes”.
In a handout Kumar claimed that the bereaved families are still homeless and continue to pay rent from the last 20 months at private accommodation at which they are currently staying.
“Shockingly, heavy electric bills are delivered to the victim families while there is demolished electric network, land and houses,” he maintained adding that most of the victim families are from very poor background and are jobless as they used to sustain their livelihood from small patches of agricultural land which they have now lost.
Kumar urged J&K Lieutenant Governor to immediately take cognizance of the matter and direct the concerned authorities to immediately deliver justice to the victim families.
