Locals of the area have expressed concern over the issue and urged upon the authorities for resolving the same.
Bodh Raj Singh, former Sarpanch Saruinsar informed that land adjoining the lake is sinking and they have informed the concerned authorities many times but nothing concrete has emerged so far.
He also said that recently a firm from Uttrakhand has done some survey of the place and they appeal to the Government to immediately release funds for fixing the problem.
Another local informed that whenever some developmental work starts in the area the authorities avoid securing a No Objection Certificate which invites objections from the Wild Life Department.
He said that the Wild Life Department should also cooperate in developmental works in the area.
Mohit Jamwal, a restaurant owner informed that the area lacks sanitation and drains in the area mostly remain dirty.
He said that the area is badly hit by drinking water supply.
Jamwal further said that if conditions remain unattended then the entire area will soon sink and this will be the cruel joke with the lives of the people.
Similar were the views of Kuldeep Raj Sharma who said that by the evening the tourists leave the area as there is no lighting arrangement at the place.
“The Government is making an artificial lake in Jammu but it would be better if they have spent money here for the betterment of Saruinsar Lake,” he maintained.
D.S Katoch, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Saruinsar Mansar Development Authority (SMDA) when contacted informed the issue of sinking of land has been handed over to Tehri Dam Corporation which has also conducted 4-5 visits of the area and now they have to make a technical report of the case to be submitted to the Government.
“The technical report is under the process and within a month it will be finalised after which some solution for the sinking problem is expected,” he further said.
Regarding garbage and other sanitation issues at the lake, he said that it is being done on daily basis as the job has been outsourced to some contractor.
