JAMMU, Aug 31: The birth anniversary of Shiv Yogni and mystic poetess Lalleshwari was celebrated today with great religious fervor and gaiety today. In this connection a grand function was organised Surya Bhawan Martand Paloura top here in which hundreds of devotees drawn from different parts of Jammu including intellectuals, poets and socio-religious activists participated. The function was organised by Mata Lalleshwari Janam Utsav Samaroh Samiti, Durga Nagar Jammu.

B. N. Abhilish, a well known Bhakti poet in his introductory address, highlighted the purpose and motto of celebrating the sacred day. He said the organization intends to construct a temple of this great Saint in Jammu to propagate her Vaakhs and philosophy. This was followed by a soulful Bhajan rendered by Desha Bhat and a mesmerizing Lal Vakhs recital by renowned singer Naina Saproo, which deeply moved the gathering.
Speeches reflecting on the life and timeless teachings of Lalleshwari were delivered by Relief Commissioner, Dr Arvind Karwani who was the chief guest on the occasion, Prof Rattan Lal Talashi, Kanwal Krishan Lidhu, P. N. Raina, Jeevika Misri, and Osheen Pandita.
The function was conducted by P K Raina a well known broadcaster.
Another function was held at the Mata Laleshwari Sedh Peeth Pampore with divine chants of Lal Vaakh which made entire atmosphere serene. The local Hindu Biradri of tehsil Pampore is reconstructing the Lalleshwari Sedh Peeth Pampore in South Kashmir district for which Government has approved funds also.
Ravi Ji Bhat a social activist highlighted the significance of the day and contribution of Shiv Yogni.
Daya Krishan Bhat, Kuldeep Tickoo, Rajinder Koul, Rahul Koul and others also spoke on the occasion. They demanded sacred Lal Trag and other connected sites be also protected.
