JAMMU, Apr 5: Minister for Health and Medical Education, ARI and Trainings Ch Lal Singh today said the PDP-BJP Coalition Government is fully aware of the genuine problems of the people and is committed to provide improved basic amenities to them like road connectivity, healthcare, safe drinking water, un-interrupted power supply and better education.
The Minister said this while addressing a large number of people at a Public Grievances Redressal Camp held at Kathua today.
The Minister listened to the grievances of the people and issued on-the-spot instructions to the concerned officers for early redressal of the same. The issues which were brought to the notice of the Minister mainly pertained to improvement in the drinking water supply, medicare, shortage of rations, road connectivity, electricity, posting of adequate teaching staff in Government Middle School Pharlu and upgradation of lanes and drains.
Ch Lal Singh said it is the endeavour of the Government to provide all basic facilities to the people on priority basis, adding that a well conceived programme has been devised to address all issues in a phased manner. He said provision for better healthcare, education, PHE and road connectivity are the priority sectors of the Government, adding that Government is paying focused attention to upgrade the same.
Regarding strengthening of healthcare facilities in Mahatma Gandhi Maternity Hospital (MGMS) in Kathua city, Ch Lal Singh said the Government has released Rs. 1.25 crore under National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) for construction of new additional block in the hospital premises.
The Minister said that instructions have been issued to the executing agency to gear up their men and machinery and complete the ongoing construction work of new Additional block of MGMC in stipulated timeframe.
A deputation of Asha workers met the Minister and demanded increase of honorarium Rs. 5000 per month and its timely disbursement including other incentives.
Another deputation of Male Multi Purpose Health Workers (MMPHW) Diploma holders Association also met the Minister and demanded creation of more posts in the Health Department.
Later, Ch Lal Singh also released a music CD of songs and ghazals of Dr. Usha Moga in an impressive function organised by Aashirwad Productions and local literary forum Treveni Kala Kunj at Government College for Women Kathua.
