Lady held for theft, gold ornaments recovered

DODA, Nov 13: Police here today solved a theft case within 24 hours of its registration by arresting a woman and recovering stolen gold ornaments worth several lakhs of rupees from her.
A handout of Police Department stated that on November 12, 2025, one Reshma Devi, wife of Sandeep Singh, resident of Ziyani, Kastigarh, District Doda, presently at Bun Doda, visited Police Station Doda along with her husband and lodged a written complaint stating that on November 8, 2025 evening, she found lid of her suitcase open and gold ornaments including Mangalsutra, Nose Ring (Nath), Tikka, Earrings and other jewellery items worth several lakhs of rupees missing.
It was suspected that someone had committed theft.
Acting promptly on the complaint, a case in FIR No. 255/2025 U/S 331(4)/305 BNS was registered at Police Station Doda and investigation started.
On the directions of SSP Doda, Sandeep Mehta, a special team was constituted which was led by SHO Police Station Doda, Inspector Parvaiz Ahmed Khanday under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Doda Krishan Rattan.
During investigation, cops succeeded in solving the case within 24 hours by arresting a lady Shabnam Begum, wife of Irshad Ahmed, resident of Kastigarh, at present Bun, Doda and during questioning she confessed to her involvement in the crime and upon her disclosure, the stolen gold ornaments worth lakhs of rupees were recovered.
