SRINAGAR, Sept 16: A 19-year-old labourer from Handwara area of North Kashmir today died after suffering an electric shock while installing a smart meter in the Yaripora area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
Officials identified the deceased as Sadiq Ahmad Badana, son of Bashir Ahmad Badana of Molabal, Handwara. The official added that he was employed with a private company engaged in fixing smart meters in Kulgam. During the work, he came into contact with a live wire and sustained a fatal electric shock.
He further said he was initially taken to Government Medical College Anantnag and later referred to SKIMS Soura, where doctors declared him brought dead on arrival.
Meanwhile, police have registered a case and initiated further investigation.
