JAMMU, Sept 6: A 38-year-old labourer, who was hired by the Power Development Department (PDD) to repair the damaged power lines, died due to electrocution at Chattha Pind area here today.
Between 11 AM to 12 noon, police received a message that a labourer, identified as Sunny Kumar son of Baldev Singh of Khandwal, who was hired by PDD to repair the damaged power utilities at Chattha Pind fell off the pole, resulting in severe injuries to him, a police official said.
He said the injured individual was taken to a hospital, where the attending doctors declared him as dead on arrival.
According to him, the body of the deceased labourer has been handed over to his legal heirs after performing the legal formalities, while inquest proceedings have been initiated to further probe into the matter.
