JAMMU, June 23: A migrant labourer from Uttar Pradesh today died of electrocution at Mishriwala while a man was killed and three others were injured in two road mishaps in city outskirts.
According to a police spokesman, a labourer identified as Neeraj (23) son of binder Din, resident of UP (at present Mishriwala) was killed this evening at his present residence, when he came in contact with a naked electric wire while cooking food. He said that the body of the deceased was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu for postmortem.
Meanwhile, a man identified as Ravinder Koul (52) son of Radhakrishan Koul, resident of Purkhoo, sustained serious injuries today at about 9 pm when a bike bearing registration number JK02AU-4952 on which he was travelling, was hit by an unknown vehicle at Paloura on Jammu-Akhnoor road near Sheeshmahal Palace. The injured man was immediately taken to GMCH Jammu, where he was declared as brought dead by the doctors. The body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary room of the hospital for postmortem.
In another case, three persons were injured when a Wagon-R car on which they were travelling rolled down the road and fell into Ranbir Canal in Simbalwala area of Kanachak. He said that the mishap occurred this evening when driver of the car, which was on its way from Akhnoor to Jammu, lost control over the steering of the vehicle.
He said that the injured persons were identified as Vishal Gupta (36) son of Sham Lal, resident of Janipur, Subhash Chander (40) son of Bodh Raj, resident of Janipur and Tilak Raj (52) son of Amarnath, resident of Talab Tillo. They were shifted to GMCH for treatment.
In all three cases, the concerned police had taken cognizance.
