SAMBA, July 31: A labourer died this evening due to alleged electrocution in Bari Brahmana area of the district.
“Ram Dass (30) alias Raju, son of Babu Ram, resident of Madhya Pradesh, who was presently residing at Teli Basti, Bari Brahmana, while removing shuttering of the ceiling of a double-storey under construction building at Bari Brahman, fell off from the top of the 2nd floor and in the meanwhile he came in contact with a high tension wire which was passing close to the building”, a police official said.
He said in the mishap, the labourer received serious injuries and fell unconscious. “The injured labourer was immediately rushed to a Government Hospital in Bari Brahmana but in view of his serious condition he was referred to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where he was declared as brought dead by the doctors there”, he added.
The official said that inquest proceedings in this connection was registered at police station Bari-Brahmana and body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary room of the hospital for postmortem to be conducted tomorrow.
