UDHAMPUR, Jan 22: A labourer committed suicide by hanging himself from a fan hook in his rental house at Bharat Nagar Udhampur, here today.
According to the police reports, Sohan Lal (34), son of Dhani Ram, resident of Choki Jandhrodh in Ramnagar, was found hanging from a fan hook at a rental house under mysterious circumstances.
Locals and family members saw him hanging and immediately called the Police, which shifted the dead body to District Hospital Udhampur for the postmortem.
According to Reva Devi, wife of the deceased, Sohan Lal was drunk when he came home last evening around 8:00 pm. He locked himself in the room and was found hanging this morning around 10:00 am when the neighbours were called and the door was opened, she added. The reason for the suicide was not known yet.
The deceased was working as a labourer. Udhampur police have registered the case and started further investigation.
