BARI BRAHMANA, June 12: The Labour Department Samba today observed the World Day against Child Labour by holding an awareness event at the Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) complex.
Labour Commissioner J&K, Charandeep Singh, was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Deputy Labour Commissioner Jammu, Vinakshi Koul, BBIA President Lalit Mahajan, Viraj Malhotra of BBIA, and the Chairman of the Child Welfare Committee were also present.
A statement said industrial employees and stakeholders from across the district attended the event.
Speakers highlighted the legal consequences, social impact, and penalties associated with child labour.
They stressed the need for joint action from industries, Government bodies, and the public to eliminate this menace.
Participants also took a pledge to oppose child labour and promote fair labour practices. Various competitions were held to spread awareness, and winners were felicitated with prizes.
The programme ended with a call for collective efforts to ensure a child labour-free society.
