JAMMU, Jan 6: Labour Commissioner J&K, Charandeep Singh, today chaired a review meeting to assess the progress of implementation of labour codes in the Union Territory.
The meeting focused on the ongoing Information, Education and Communication (IEC) campaign, with emphasis on strengthening awareness among employers, HR managers, workers and unorganised sector workers.
The Labour Commissioner stressed that effective implementation of the labour codes requires informed participation of all stakeholders.
Assistant Labour Commissioners briefed the meeting about district-level initiatives, including awareness workshops, interactive sessions and meetings with industrial units, trade unions and workers to explain compliance requirements, welfare measures and grievance redressal mechanisms.
It was also informed that special sensitisation drives were conducted for unorganised workers through field visits and community interactions, with IEC material widely circulated to spread awareness about rights, social security benefits and safety provisions.
Directing the department to prepare a structured action plan, the Labour Commissioner called for intensified IEC activities and capacity-building programmes, particularly for unorganised and vulnerable workers.
The meeting was attended by all Assistant Labour Commissioners and Deputy Labour Commissioners of Jammu and Kashmir divisions, who shared field experiences and assured full cooperation in implementing the directions.
