LA panel directs for upgradation of Khrew Cement Plant

JAMMU, Dec 6: The Committee on Public Undertakings of Legislative Assembly today directed the Jammu and Kashmir Cements Limited for upgradation of Khrew Cement Plant on modern lines.
The Committee met here under the chairmanship of MLA, Sat Paul Sharma to discuss audit paras pertaining to the Jammu and Kashmir Cements Limited.
Legislators, Javaid Ahmad Rana, Yawar Ahmad Mir, Mumtaz Ahmad Khan, Rajeev Sharma, Naresh Kumar Gupta and Vibodh Gupta attended the meeting and gave their suggestions regarding the observations of audit paras besides functioning of the JKCL.
Threadbare discussions were held on the audit paras regarding financial position and working results, non finalization of annual accounts, manufacturing process and operational performance, production performance of cement factory Khrew, mining of limestone, performance of new cement plants and old cement plants working in the state.
The Committee dropped a few paras on its directions that the arbitration process should be expedited. Accountant General, Audit H. Abbas briefed the Committee about the observations pointed out by the CAG regarding the audit paras pertaining to the Jammu and Kashmir Cement Limited.
Commissioner Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Shailendra Kumar briefed the Committee about the observations given by the GAG report regarding audit paras pertaining to the JKCL. He also briefed about the overall functioning of JK Cement and steps taken for further improvement of the institution.
Among others, Managing Director JK Cement Limited, besides senior officers of concerned department and Assembly Secretariat were also present in the meeting.
