KVK Reasi gets best presentation award in Zonal Workshop

JAMMU, Dec 31: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi, of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J) conferred with the best presentation award in the Zonal Workshop of KVKs of Zone-1, which was held at SKUAST-J from December 28-30.
The workshop was attended by the agricultural scientists from the States of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttrakhand. During the workshop, senior Scientists and Heads of 74 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) and 6 Agricultural Technology Information Centres (ATICs) from different agricultural universities of the North Zone of the country presented their Annual Progress Reports.
The best presentation award was received by the Scientist and Head of KVK Reasi, Dr Banarsi Lal and was presented by the VC of SKUAST-J, Dr Pradeep Kumar Sharma, the chief guests, Daljeet Singh Chib (Vice Chairman, J&K Kisan Advisory Board for Welfare of Kisans) and Dr Ramesh Yadav (Chairman, Farmers’ Commission, Haryana), Vice Chancellor from CCS, HPKV, Palampur (Himachal Pradesh), Dr AK Sarial and others.
Dr Banarsi Lal presented the Annual Progress Report (2016-17) of KVK Reasi and also elaborated some other extension activities of KVK Reasi. He explained about the farmers, vocational, in service training programmes, Front Line Demonstrations (FLDs), On Farm Trials (OFTs), campaigns, Kisan Ghosties, farmers-scientists interaction, field days, etc organized by KVK Reasi and also briefed their impact on the farmer community.
He also highlighted the success stories of KVK on organic farming, poultry farming, floriculture, vegetables etc. He elaborated the KVK’s efforts to overcome the problem of monkey menace by introducing lemongrass, Palma Rosa, vetiver grass, floriculture, turmeric, ginger etc. in the district.
Two success stories of KVK, Reasi on ‘Commercial Floriculture’ and ‘Organic Chickpea Farming’ ‘were also released by the Deputy Director General (Agriculture Extension), ICAR, New Delhi and other dignitaries in the workshop.
