JAMMU, June 1: On the occasion of World Milk Day, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Jammu, under SKUAST-Jammu, organized a webinar along with panel discussion on guiding principles to make dairy industry successful.
Prof J P Sharma, Vice Chancellor of SKAUST-Jammu, was the chief guest on the occasion. He put forth the importance of dairy sector in improving the overall economy of the farming community. He further stressed upon adoption of processing beyond after production. The VC appreciated the efforts of scientists of KVK Jammu for its outreach during the crucial times of CVOVID-19 pandemic.
Prof S K Gupta, Director Extension SKUAST Jammu, elaborated upon the value added product and their role in enhancing farmer’s income.
Kulbushan Khajuria, Member Board of Management SKUAST-J put forth the various issues of the farming community involved in dairy sector in Jammu.
Er A H Wani, Secretary J&K State Advisory Board for Development of Kisans, briefed the delegates about the various Government sector schemes being run in J&K for development of dairy and other agriculture and allied sector.
At the outset, Dr Punit Choudhary, Sr Scientist and Head Krishi Vigyan Kendra Jammu, presented a formal welcome address. Dr M A Tak, CEO LDB; Dr Altaf Chief, Animal Husbandary Officer, Jammu; Dr Bazaz, Extension Officer Animal Husbandary Department; Vikrant Dogra, Secretary J&K, Dairy Producers, Processors and Marketing Cooperative Union Ltd, Livestock Development Officers from Jammu and progressive farmers also spoke on the occasion.
A team of Scientist, including Dr Neelash Sharma, Dr Arvind Kumar and Dr D K Dwiedi for Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandary, SKUAST-Jammu, delivered technical lectures on Disease Control, Value Addition and proper hygiene of dairy animals.
The programme was conducted by Dr Prem Kumar, Scientist Fisheries of KVK Jammu. The programme concluded with an interactive session among the farmers and Scientists. Dr Ravneet Kour and Dr Sheetal Badyal of KVK Jammu recorded the proceeding of the programme whereas Dr Raju Gupta and Er Ashish Katoch helped in the smooth conduct of the programme.
