KVK hosts Scientific Advisory Committee meet

REASI, Nov 21: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi today organized 11th Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) meeting here under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor SKUAST-Jammu, Prof. JP Sharma.
The meeting was attended by the statutory SAC members from different departments’ viz. Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, Sheep Husbandry, NABARD, J&K Bank, Social Forestry and officers of SKUAST-J. Progressive farmers from different villages also participated in the meeting.
Director Extension of SKUAST-J, Dr. SK Gupta welcomed the chief guest and briefed the programme. The Chairman of the meeting, Prof.JP Sharma stressed upon efficient marketing in the agriculture. He also emphasized on the value addition and branding of the agricultural produce. He discussed on the Integrated Farming System for the prosperity of the farmers.
He also released a publication of KVK,Reasi and appreciated the KVK, Reasi for the efforts on organic farming and lemon grass farming. He suggested the KVK scientists to disseminate the successful latest technologies to the farmers. He gave constructive suggestions to the scientists and advised them to work in close co-ordination with agriculture and allied departments.
Director (Res.) SKUAST-J, Prof. RK Gupta recommended some new varieties of different crops. He stressed on the participatory approach in seed production. Dr. SK Gupta, Director Extension of SKUAST-J, Dr. Deepak Kher, Director Planning Marketing, SKUAST-J, Dr. Jasvinder Singh Soodan, Head TVCC of SKUAST-J, Er. Iqbal Singh, Dr Rakesh Sharma and Dr.Narinder Panotra also gave constructive suggestions during the meeting.
Dr. Banarsi Lal, Sr. Scientist and Head of KVK, Reasi presented the action taken report of the previous SAC meeting as well as progress report of the previous year and also discussed proposed action plan for the year 2020-21.
District Horticulture Officer, Reasi Sandeep Kumar discussed about the quality planting material. DDM NABARD, Adarsh Gupta discussed the projects of beekeeping and lemon grass farming.
