SRINAGAR, Mar 14: Residents of Shotalyari village in Kupwara district are facing connectivity issues as the village lacks mobile and landline connectivity.
The village is situated in the Ramhall block and is nearly 30 kilometers away from the district headquarters. The lack of connectivity has made life difficult for the villagers, especially students who find it difficult to study and communicate with the outside world.”The lack of mobile and landline connectivity has made life difficult for us. We have to walk almost one kilometer away from our village to find a spot where the phone catches a signal for the internet,” a resident of Shotalyari village said.
The situation is even worse for the students who hail from the village. They prefer not to stay away from the village due to the non-availability of mobile internet and landline telecom services, “I have to go to my relative’s house in the nearby town to complete my assignments and projects. It is a big hassle for me,” a student said.
The locals of Shotalyari village have appealed to the administration and telecom service providers to install a tower in the area so that residents, especially students, would not face further problems, “we hope that our appeal is heard by the authorities and the tower is installed soon. We need connectivity to lead a normal life in this 21st century,” a student said.
The residents said that the lack of connectivity has not only affected the lives of the villagers but has also impacted the development of the area. “The absence of internet and telecom services has made it difficult for businesses to operate and for the government to provide services to the people,” they said.
