SRINAGAR, Dec 10: A local court here today awarded 10 years jail and fine to a Pakistan national for his involvement in various offences and directed his repatriation to Pakistan after serving and completing the sentence.

The court of Principal District Judge Kupwara-Manjeet Singh Manhas sentenced Hanzullah Yaseen Raie alias Abu Ukasa of Bhawalpora, Punjab Pakistan for commission of offences under Section 307 RPC (attempt to murder), 7/27 of Indian Arms Act (selling and possessing firearms illegally) and Section 14 of Foreigners Act (violating immigration rules, like overstaying or breaching visa conditions).
The court after thoughtful consideration to the nature of offences, the manner in which they were committed and voluntary confession of the convict-Hanzullah awarded jail term of 10 years to him for attempt to murder offences and fine of Rs. 10000.
“For the offence under Section 7/25 of the Indian Arms Act, the convict is sentenced to Rigorous imprisonment of 10 years and a fine of Rs. 5000,” the court said, adding “For the offences under the Foreigners Act, the convict is sentenced to Rigorous imprisonment of 5 years with fine of Rs. 5000”.
The court, however, has made it clear that in view of the fact that all the offences arise out of one composite transaction all the sentences shall run concurrently.
The court has also made it clear that the convict shall be entitled to set off the entire period of detention already undergone during the investigation and trial with effect from June 20, 2016 in terms of the code of criminal procedure.
“After completion of the sentence, and subject to any remission permissible under law, the convict shall be dealt with in accordance with provisions of the Foreigners Act including repatriation to his parent country, Pakistan as directed already”, read the quantum order.
