SRINAGAR, Oct 30: Organized by Allama Iqbal Library, Kashmir University, a one-day seminar “Meet the Eminent” on the life and contributions of late Maulana Sayeed Masoodi to education, religion and social set-up of Kashmir valley was held at University Campus, here.
Vice Chancellor, Kashmir University Prof Talat Ahmad who was presiding over the function said that the contribution of Maulana Masoodi to the Valley is something unambiguous as he has played a pivotal role in the betterment of the Kashmiri people.
Prof Talat further said that such seminars are important platforms for educating the younger generation about the people who have given enormous dedication and contribution to the Valley.
Prominent journalist and broadcaster, Ghulam Nabi Khayal gave his outlook on Masoodi and underscored that he was a remarkable scholar and has been an important figure in taking initiatives to build a prosperous Valley.
Former Chief Secretary, Sheikh Ghulam Rasool, pointed out that Masoodi`s sole motive was betterment of people, while Riyaz Rufai, Kashmir University librarian said that the focus of this seminar was to reveal the colossal work Maulana Masoodi performed in eight decades of his life.
Meanwhile, a photo exhibition on Maulana Masoodi was also held on the sideline of the event and Kashmir panorama a website was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Talat.
