JAMMU, May 21: A meeting with the prominent representatives of Brahmin organizations was held today at Faridabad NCR Delhi under the aegis of Kashmir Sahayak Sabha (KSS). The meeting was presided over by Dr. S.K.Handoo, president of KSS-Faridabad. Panun Kashmir president, Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo was the special guest on the occasion.
Those who attended the meeting included Puran Patwari, general secretary, Dr. M.L.Hashia, Anil Dhar, R.K.Bhan, Ramesh Kitchloo and Surinder Bhat. The Brahmin organizations were represented among others by Sukhbir Sharma, National Trade Unionist and N.Sharma. The participants welcomed the efforts for developing closer relationship among various sections of people espousing the community and national aspirations. They lauded the efforts of all and in particular the RSS, VHP, BJP for extending organised help to the displaced Kashmiri Pandit community in its times of crisis in 1989-90 and thereafter.
Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, president, Panun Kashmir, in his address, said that the Kashmiri Pandits are ‘Sanskari Brahmin community’ and not a ‘Jativadi community’. They believes in an egalitarian society and has a legacy of equality and equal opportunities. Pandits believe in merit, qualification, equality, non-untouchability, and emancipation of all sections of the society. Kashmiri Pandits would like to spread the message of oneness of the Hindu society for the betterment of the nation and would like to contribute towards that purpose always. “We are ardent followers of Advaita and Shavism, Shakta and Vaishnav Karamkand, Bodh Tantra and Vedic Parampara,. The Kashmiri Pandit contribution to the Sanskrit literature is immense and forms an integral part of the philosophy, science, art, culture, architecture, literature and language”, he added.
He said time to wail for what happened to us due to Islamic terrorism in Kashmir is over and it is the time to rebuild the future keeping in view the facts of history.
“We express our deep concern over the developing situation in Jammu region which has been facing the demographic invasion under a design, he said. The Rohangys, Bangladeshi illegal immigrants and people from various areas are under a plan aiming at de-balancing the population composure of the Jammu region. Kathua carnage and the agitation symbolize this particular area of concern”, he added.
He said PK fully supports the movement launched by the Jammu Bar Association and the people of Kathua.
Sukhbir Sharma lauded the role of the Pandits and expressed the view that the whole society supports them. He said the nation looks up to the luminaries among the Pandit community for guidance and good work, he added.
Dr. S.K.Handoo who proposed the vote of thanks said that the KSS is a success story of the Pandit community and it has always welcomed all who came to it.
