JAMMU, June 21: Kashmiri Pandit Sabha (KPS) Jammu in a meeting held under the chairmanship of its president, K.K. Khosa the members took serious exception to the statement made by Mirwaiz Omar Farooq that the Kashmiri Pandits are welcome to return and settle back in the Valley as they were living earlier, before being forced to move out leaving all their movable and immovable properties behind.
While criticizing the Mirwaiz, the Sabha president said that Hurriyat has always created hindrances whenever any proposal was made by the GoI for return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits in the Valley. The official figures published from time to time by the Government mention that more than 70 % properties of the Pandits have changed hands due to distress sale and encroachments while many others have been destroyed due to fire and vandalization, he added.
Khosa said Mirwaiz’s statement is downright mischievous and condemnable leading to create a false narrative which suits the separatists.
The Sabha welcomed parts of the statements, since it is for the first time that he has talked about other parts of the State also being important stakeholders with whom a dialogue process needs to be started. Hitherto the separatists would always pose that it is only the Kashmir region which represents the aspirations of the entire State. The members were appreciative of the hard-line adopted by the GoI against terrorists and separatists which has resulted in this change of attitude on behalf of the Hurriyat, he added.
The Sabha Executive Committee also called upon the State Governor and the GoI to include Kashmiri Pandits in any dialogue process which might be initiated with all stakeholders within the ambit of the Constitution of India as Pandits are also primary stakeholders who have an inalienable right, to be resettled in the land of their forefathers.
“Let Moulvi sahib ensure the complete change of hands of all the properties which changed hands from genuine Kashmiri Pandit owners since 1990, sold under distress or occupied due to forced encroachment”. Then his statement has same value. “Let him give a decree / Fatwa to return back all the properties”, he added.
“We have seen all these years impediments by separatists and even regional main stream parties” Khosa said.
Besides K. K. Khosa the meeting was attended by S. L. Bagati, Ashok Braroo, Ashwani Koul, B. L. Tiku, Subhash Dhar, Ashok Kher, Rajinder Tiku, Jitender Parimoo, G. J. Kampassi, J. L Zutshi, B. L. Rawal etc.
