JAMMU, Sept 25: A meeting of the Executive Committee of the Kashmiri Pandit Sabha (KPS) Jammu was held today under the chairmanship of it’s president, K. K. Khosa to discuss the pressing issues of the Kashmiri Pandit community and their early redressal by the UT Government led by Chief Minister, Omer Abdullah.
The members expressed their unhappiness over the fact that none of the urgent issues have been resolved by the Government even after having been in office for more than ten months. The members recalled that Omar Abdullah led NC Government had promised to address all issues urgently since they considered the community to be an integral part of Kashmir milieu without whom Kashmir and Kashmiriyat was incomplete. The members were of the opinion that Government was not interested in resolution of the long pending issues but was only raking them for paying lip service to the community.
They said the community feels badly let down and completely marginalized by both the Centre and UT Government. The Sabha appealed the Government to pass a legislation/resolution in the forthcoming session of the UT Assembly regarding the long pending issues in order to restore the trust of Kashmiri Pandits in the Government. The members also demanded that since the National Conference (NC) is poised to win three seats for the Rajya Sabha in the forthcoming elections, it must include one Kashmiri Pandit out of the two seats from the valley to reflect sincere intentions of NC in resettling the displaced community in the Valley.
Those who attend the meeting were Deepak Dhar, Ashwani Koul, S. L. Bagati, G. J. Kampasi, Subash Dhar, Prof. R. K. Ganjoo, S.K. Koul, Dr. Sujata Sathoo, Asha Kitchloo, Nimmi Braroo, Satish Khoda.
