JAMMU, June 16: Kashmiri Pandits today paid rich tributes to Police cop Sameer Bhat who was murdered by an SPO last month in Handwara area of Kupwara district and demanded a CBI probe into the matter to unravel the facts.
The KPs held a strong protest demonstration with placards and banners in their hands and shouting slogans against the authorities. They also squatted at Akhnoor road and held a dharna. They demanded a CBI probe into the matter and punishment to accused persons under law of the land.
The representatives of all KP organisations participated the protest to give a strong message to the Government that community has totally rejected the theory presented by the Police about the cop saying that they will not allow any one to denigrate the diehard policeman. While questioning the police theory which tried to make the character assassination of the cop they said if the cop was of a lose character how the Police Department had assigned him important duty at Airport and other sensitive places.
Strongly denouncing the tardy approach of the State Government in the investigation of brutal murder of late Sameer Bhat, president All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference (ASKPC) Advocate Ravinder Raina demanded that the case should be immediately handed over to CBI for an impartial investigation while addressing the gathering while participating in the 10th Day Kriya rituals of the cop whom he termed a great son of the community.

Terming the brutal murder as a conspiracy to stall the return of Pandits to valley, Panun Kashmir convener, Dr Agnishekhar said that it was a plan to Islamize Kashmir valley and establish the caliphate, which is evident from the current situation in the Valley as Government of India is in deep slumber, with no concrete policy towards the Kashmiri Pandits who are the worst sufferers of the turmoil in Kashmir.
Panun Kashmir warns both PDP and BJP to desist from hiding the religious fascist nature of the unrest in Kashmir.
Panun Kashmir demanded that Government of India should come out with a white paper on the atrocities committed against Hindus in Kashmir during the all period of unrest in Kashmir.
The members of Kashmiri Khatri Hindu Maha Sabha who also participated in the protest at Muthi Ghat along with Kashmiri Khatri Yuvak Sabha and Displaced Kashmiri Unemployed Youth demanded justice to bereaved family.
The activists of KP Sabha, AIKS, YAIKS, KPC, Samajik Vikas Sansthan, JKVM, Kheer Bhawani Coordination Committee, Zeashta Devi Prabandhak Committee,Sharika Peeth Sanstha, Vivekananda Kendra Nagdandi, TRT Nagrota, Jagti, Muthi, Purkhoo, AMCCC, RSS Shakha Dharmal, BJP, PDP &NC Minority Cells etc expressed shock over killing.
The Lok Janshakti Party Youth president Sanjay Saraf also participated in the protest and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family.
Later addressing media persons Saraf said the police version is not acceptable and killing the cop by SPO is vague because SOG cops are very strong. Moreover the SPO changed many versions and how his version of sexual assault was accepted by police. Besides, how the SPO said that he took the dead body from four villages in Handwara and how was that possible when Army and police is guarding every route and every passage in Valley.
He said as per the version of his family the private parts of the cop were given electric shock which indicates that the cop was tortured to death and he would have not been killed by less than 10 persons.
Meanwhile, Shadi Lal Pandta president JTC demanded that the murder case of the cop be transferred to Jammu for investigation. Another protest was held by Jammu Kashmir Ladakh Socialist Party in which through a resolution CBI probe was demanded into the killing besides a compensation of Rs 50 lakh for the bereaved family and a Government job to next kin was demanded.
