JAMMU, Aug 27: A function was organised by Sanjeevani Sharda Kendra (SSK) here, to pay tribute to the Kashmiri Pandit martyrs of 1967 agitation and the bravery of Biradari members who took up the banner of revolt against the then J&K administration for their betrayal with the community.
Rich tribute were paid to the martyrs: Lt. Maharaj Krishen Razdan, Pt. Lassa Koul, Gopi Nath Handoo, Pt. H.N. Matoo, Autar Krishen and Prem Nath Jotshi.
The function started with recitation of Ganesh Stuti.
Dr. M.K. Bharat, Chairman of Sanjeevani Sharda Kendra, welcomed the guests and participants and presented a brief of the activities of Sanjeevani Sharda Kendra.
The function was presided over by Dr. Daleep Pandita, a well-known social activist and president of KSS Trikuta Nagar. While addressing the gathering, he encouraged the youth of the community to come forward and appreciated the young speakers who spoke on the occasion.
Ashok Kumar Braroo, in his address, expressed his great joy over the teenaged scholars/students who have very patiently studied the history and have been able to bring out the picture of events which took place then.
The vivid picture of the whole agitation and its backdrop was nicely presented by young students Kartik and Oshean from Sharika Foundation. Anushka and Khushi from Shard Institute of Computer Education narrated the agitation of 1967 through a conversation with each other, which was applauded by the audience present.
The programme was conducted by Rajinder Chrangoo, and the vote of thanks was presented by Tej Krishen Jigyasoo, organiser of the programme.
