JAMMU, Jan 9: Kashmiri Pandit Sabha (KPS) Jammu has expressed its deep concern over the reported incident of manhandling, intimidation and vandalism against a Kashmiri Pandit family living in Raj Bagh, Srinagar. The family of Toshkhani has been living peacefully in Srinagar and did not migrate from the Valley after the outbreak of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir in 1989-90.
KPC in a statement issued here, today said Ashok Toshkhani narrated the trauma which he and his wife underwent due to the assault on both husband and wife, by one Vivek Batra and his associates who apparently had been having evil designs to occupy their property.
The Sabha expressed their appreciation for the commendable and timely actions taken by the Kashmir Police in apprehending the culprits and coming to the rescue of Toshkhani and restoring their confidence. The Sabha has also appealed the Lt. Governor, Manoj Sinha to kindly review the security of minority community and prevent the community from any further incidents of violence in future.
The representatives of minority community continuing to live in the Valley are live examples of Kashmiriyat and communal harmony that needs special attention of the elected Government, statement said.
Meanwhile, Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) president, Kundan Kashmiri while expressing his serious concern over the unfortunate incident has written a letter to Inspector General of Police, Kashmir demanding security for minority Pandits in Valley and action under law against culprit who manhandled the KP family in Kashmir with ulterior motives.
