JAMMU, Mar 15: A meeting of prominent socio political activists of the displaced Kashmiri Pandit community was held here, today under the chairmanship of M.K.Yogi a senior KP leader which was presided over by Vinod Pandita a socio-political activist of the community in which large number of displaced Kashmiri Pandits participated.
The meeting discussed several genuine problems of displaced community leading an exiled life for last 37 years.
M K Yogi, in his address highlighted the genuine problems of displaced KPs like rise in unemployment among educated displaced youth. He demanded formulation of concrete time bound return and rehabilitation policy and appealed Government of India to address these genuine problems on priority basis for sake of justice and equity.
Yogi also demanded the enhancement of cash assistance from Rs 13,000 to Rs 25,000 per month keeping in view hike in daily essential commodities and also highlighted the issues of doling out of left out compensation of the gutted/damaged properties of displaced Pandits in 1990 in Valley. He appealed Government of India and Lt. Governor J&K to address these genuine demands of displaced people at the earliest.
He however expressed satisfaction over the steps taken in settling some of the grievances of migrants by Chief Secretary and also urged GOI and UT Government for taking all immediate required necessary steps to improve the conditions of displaced KPs living in camps and non camps in Jammu, Udhampur and other parts of the country.
Other prominent persons who addressed the meeting were Vishal Jotshi, Ashok Dhar, Anil Bhan, Sanjay Raina, Ashok Kumar Koul, M.K.Koul, Ashok Pandita, Surinder Koul, Jyoti Dhar, Urmila Kanth, Bal Krishan Bhat and Dazy and vote of thanks was presented by Anil Bhan.
