JAMMU, Mar 29: A meeting of all Kashmiri Pandit Sanasthas under the chairmanship of Ranjeet Gurkhu, president of Shri Shri Jagat Amba Sharika Chakreshwar, Sanstha Hari Parbat, Srinagar and Jammu was held, where in deep anguish was expressed over the recent attempts being made to encroach the land of holy shrine.
The meeting was informed that land mafia with anti social elements are indulging in land grabbing at holy shrine which is a serious issue for entire community and this will not be allowed at any cost.
It said there is a constant threat to the shrine situated on the Pradhuman Peeth in heart of the Srinagar city. This centuries old seat of the Goddess Sharika is the centre of the Tantric worship the mainstay of the Kashmir Shaivism known as Trika. The eighteen armed Goddess Sharika (Ashtadushbuja) is regarded as the presiding deity (Isht-Devi) of Srinagar city. The Goddess Sharika is manifestation of the foremost deity and supreme mother of the universe – the Goddess Durga.
The meeting, while expressing serious concern over bid to encroach the land of the shrine said the mafia and land grabbing sharks are making efforts to encroach the land on both sides of the steps leading to the Hari Parbat near the stairs. They have started advertising that the land is the personal property and the interested parties may approach them for its sale.
The meting said entire KP community is highly agitated over the encroachment of the Hari Parbat land. All the participants appealed the concerned authorities in general and the district administration Srinagar in particular to look into the matter and take the culprits to task.
The meeting besides others was attended by representative of ASKPC, AIKS, KP Sabha, Panun Kashmir, Mata Raghin Sanastha Janipur, Kashmiri Samiti Delhi and others.
