JAMMU, Dec 8: Various KP organizations have urged the Government to come out with a clear cut policy on the rehabilitation of Pandits in Valley in view of the confusing signals coming from various quarters especially from the leaders of ruling alliance.
Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) has urged the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to hold a dialogue with the representatives of displaced people on their genuine demands as the community is entering 27 th year of exile now.
Coming down heavily on PDP–BJP alliance in the State for the recent outrageous statement of PDP chief, Ms Mehbooba Mufti on sharing of 6000 quarters especially constructed fro KP employees in Valley, KPC chief Kundan Kashmiri urged the Prime Minister and Home Minister of India to hold talks with the KP community representatives at the earliest to ascertain their views on return.
He made it clear that KPC is committed to one place settlement in Valley with free flow of Indian Constitution. He reiterated the demand for probe into the reasons that led to mass exodus of the community and fixing of responsibility therein, providing jobs to KP youth outside Valley till normalization of situation and settlement of other demands of displaced people.
Kashmiri Hindu Conference (KHC) president Advocate M L Thusoo and convener P L Koul Badgami said that the State Government is not keen for the rehabilitation of displaced people in Valley as same has been gauged from the recent statement of PDP chief and MP Ms Mehbooba Mufti’s statement who said that the apartments for migrants will be built on 50:50 basis.
They while rejecting the same said in the present scenario of Kashmir where the society has been radicalized totally this was not possible and KHC stands for twin township for the rehabilitation of displaced people. They said that concrete measures be taken in this regard as this was the only viable solution to the rehabilitation of Pandits in Valley.
Samporan Kashmir Sangthan (SKS) has also opposed the proposal of Mehbooba Mufti saying that return of Pandits was not possible to Kashmir till their aspirations are fulfilled. Rakesh Kaul president of the SKS said that shifting the displaced Pandits to such accommodations can put them to security risk again and the same is not acceptable.
