JAMMU, Nov 3: Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) today said that after the mass migration of Kashmiri Pandits from Kashmir Valley, a total of 85,749 Kanals of land and 10155 numbers of structures belonging to Kashmiri Pandits were left behind in Kashmir Valley, but the Government failed to protect these properties from encroachers, which exposed the tall claims of the respective Governments toward migrant community.
After KPs migration in1990 more than 200 complaints of encroachment have been registered in the offices of Deputy Commissioners of ten districts of Kashmir Division but Government seems least bothered.
In district Anantnag, maximum of 33 cases were registered, followed by district Baramulla with 32 cases, Kupwara 29, Kulgam 22, Budgam 21, Pulwama and Srinagar 17 each, Ganderbal 16, Shopian 9, Bandipora 14 cases, but despite numbers of complaints of migrant community, the Government failed to retrieve the encroached land which shows indifferent attitude of incumbent coalition Government of State.
A total of 15 marlas of land was retrieved from the encroachers in district Baramullah. In district Kulgam 31 Kanals and three kanals land in Pulwama, five Kanals of land from Bandipora was retrieved so far. While as Government has failed to retrieve the land even from a single encroacher in district Anantnag where maximum of 33 cases are registered.
The fresh case of encroachment of KP land took place in village Khrew where repeated efforts are made to convert Asthapan land in to grave yard and at village Ranger, Chadura, a big portion of land is being converted in a play ground.
It is also hurting to see that security from important temples and shrines which include Jawala Ji shrine Khrew, Pulwama.
Kashmiri has again strongly taken up this issue of encroachment as well as of security with Ministry of Home Affairs and Governor of J&K and urged for immediate intervention for getting these encroachment cases settled and comprehensive security to the temples and shrines in the Valley.
