KPC rejects Mehbooba’s unilateral proposal on KP return

NEW DELHI, June 3: The Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) has strongly objected to the letter issued by former J&K Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti regarding the return and rehabilitation of the displaced community.
“KPC considers the proposal not only unilateral and ill-conceived, but also detached from the deep pain, trauma, and reality of our long-exiled community,” said KPC President Kundan Kashmiri, in a statement, issued here today.
He said that no proposal concerning the future of Kashmiri Pandits can carry meaning or legitimacy unless it comes through direct and respectful consultation with the community’s own leadership. He added that Mehbooba Mufti, who remained largely indifferent to the plight of Pandits during her tenure in power, has no moral or political authority to speak on behalf of this victimized community after three and a half decades of silence and neglect.
Reiterating that KPC firmly stands by the demand for a safe and secure one place resettlement of Kashmiri Pandits in one concentrated area in the Kashmir Valley, with full constitutional and legal safeguards, he said token allotment of plots or symbolic offers at various districts in valley are unacceptable.
