JAMMU, Feb 27: Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) today reiterated its demand for one place settlement of Kashmiri Pandits in Valley by carving out a separate piece of land there for the rehabilitation of the community by granting it a UT status.
In a statement issued here, today Kundan Kashmiri president, KPC said the Kashmiri Pandits who suffered genocide through the hands of the Pak agents and forces inimical to India’s unity and integrity have suffered over last 36 years in exile and the wounds inflicted on them would only get healed after their honourable and dignified rehabilitation in Kashmir as per their terms and conditions.
He said the community has made it umpteen times clear to the Central Government as well as J&K Government that one place settlement after carving out a separate piece of land with UT status is the only solution to the problems of displaced Pandits so that they will not face the forced exodus in future through the hands of radical forces.
Kashmiri said since majority community rejected composite culture and forced the community to lead an exiled life outside their homes and hearths after killing thousand members of the community, torching their houses and other property encroaching their agriculture land as well as land of temples and shrines. He said the Government of India needs to take cognizance of the same and dispense justice to the community who are victims of genocide and are waiting for the same for last 36 years.
He said Government should not put the community’s patience and resilience to further test and take adequate steps for the rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits on their terms and conditions as the community has lost its trust and faith on those who are responsible for perpetrating genocide on them. Kashmiri said it is the Constitutional duty of Government to get the community rehabilitated in Valley and ensure that the situation like 1989-90 does not exist again and for this the one place settlement is the only option, he added.
