JAMMU, Jan 31: All Kashmiri Pandit United Forum in its meeting here today held under the chairmanship of D N Kissu reiterated the separate homeland demand for over seven lakh Kashmiri Pandits in Valley.
Addressing the meeting Mr Kissu urged the activists of his organisation to work for uniting the Panun Kashmir forces as carving out of a separate homeland within Kashmir valley with UT status was the only viable and everlasting solution to the problems of the Kashmiri Pandits leading an exiled life for over last 23 years now.
He said it is high time when the Government of India should find an everlasting solution to the problems of the displaced Pandits who were hounded out from the Valley by terrorists backed by Pakistan. He said though it is the first and foremost duty of a State to protect the life and limb of its subjects but in the case of KPs the Government totally failed to discharge its responsibility and the community was forced to leave the Valley by anti-national elements.
He said instead of taking the cognizance of pain and agony suffered by the community and take strong steps for their everlasting rehabilitation, the GoI was also paying a lip sympathy to the community which has been ignored in each and every sphere of life.
He said it is unfortunate that community was totally ignored in Government services during last 23 years by successive Governments and when it protested for the same, the State Government sought special job package from the Centre as it has completely written off the community and does not consider its welfare as the prime responsibility. Likewise in representation in the Council of Ministers this is for the first time since 1947 that the present coalition did not consider to give representation to the community which has been the cause of concern. Moreover, on spot recruitments are made in the police but no such recruitment drive has been launched for migrants, he added.
The meeting urged the Government to concede all the long pending demands without further delay.
Prof G L Koul, C L Zuthsi, B N Bhat, C L Koul, Vinod Raina, M L Pandita and Bal Ji were among others who addressed the meeting which also demanded quarters for rented migrants and solution to the problems of Jagti inmates.
