JAMMU, Nov 21: A delegation of the Kashmiri Pandit Sabha (KPS) Jammu called on the Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha to apprise him about the large number of pressing issues confronting the community.
The delegation led by K. K. Khosa, president KP Sabha presented a brief memorandum detailing the urgent issues that required to be addressed. The Lt. Governor, Manoj Sinha assured the delegation that due consideration shall be given to the points raised in the memorandum and the issues would be addressed at the earliest. The other members were S L.Bagati and G J Kampasi.
The memorandum demanded formation of a robust return and rehabilitation policy for Kashmiri Pandits leading an exiled life for last 36 years in Valley in consultation with community urgently. The delegation further demanded that a special recruitment drive be launched to recruit class One and two category employees as well to provide gainful employment as per their capacity, qualification and skill at the earliest. Moreover under the startup initiatives of Government of India special provisions should be formulated under which the interested the interested over aged youth could be could be encouraged to set up their own ventures. In the meantime the proposal for enhancement of relief be pursued with the Ministry of Home Affairs so that the displaced people facing financial hardships are relieved from the same to some extent.
The delegation while highlighting the problems of PM package employees stressed on settlement of the same. Highlighting the problems being faced by the inmates of Jagti township due to bad condition of quarters, the delegation demanded immediate renovation of the same release of compensation for the agriculture and horticulture lands of the migrants besides their other left over property including torched houses and shops by anti national elements.
The delegation demanded implementation of Migrant Immovable Property Act 1997 in letter and spirit to safeguard the property of Kashmiri Pandits and other members of minorities in Valley. Moreover the religious places of Kashmiri Hindus be safeguarded in Valley and immediate steps be taken for giving the representation to two members of community in the Assembly as was decided earlier but even after over one year of constitution of J&K Assembly no steps have been taken in this regard till date.
