JAMMU, Feb 25: A delegation of Kashmiri migrants led by the senior community leader, M.K.Yogi and Vinod Pandita social activist today called on Dr. Arvind Karwani, Relief & Rehabilitation Commissioner J&K in his office chamber here and discussed important issues being faced by displaced people with him.
During the meeting Vinod Pandita highlighted the pertinent problems of the community which included extension of time period for filling of NAFSA Forms by two months at least, general amnesty for displaced people as was granted in the past, facilitation to enhance monthly cash assistance from Rs 13000/ to Rs 25000/, working as a bridge between UT/Central Government and Kashmiri migrants for facilitating the formation of tangible return and rehabilitation process in a time bound manner.
DC Relief, Vijay Kumar Sharma, and all ACs of Relief and Zonal officers attended the meeting.
Kuldeep Kashmiri highlighted the issues of repair/renovation of quarters which are in dilapidated condition and fast track disposal of community problems in Relief Office.
M.K. Yogi senior leader highlighted the issues of accommodation to PM package employees working in Valley who are still living on rented accommodations, establishment of communication with the concerned departments for doling out the left out compensation to gutted/damaged properties of KPs in Valley in 1990, taking up the issue of implementation of immovable Migrant Property Act 1997 in letter and spirit with highest authorities at J&K and Delhi .
Mohan Lal Comrade highlighted the issues of construction of additional residential quarters in Jammu for those migrants who are still living on rental accommodations in poor conditions. He stressed that special attention needs to be given to 125 families living in a miserable condition in one room tenements in Purkhoo phase 2.
The Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner gave a patient hearing and explained in detail the tangible steps taken so far for the comfort and convenience of the migrants.
Meanwhile with efforts of Yogi and Pandita, Avtar Krishan Koul who was sitting on Dharna for last more than three months ended his sit in protest after assurances given by Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner.
Other members of delegation were Vishal Jotshi, Kamal Ganjoo, Ravinder Singh, Roshan Lal Bhat, Raj Nath, Romesh Kumar Bhat, Ranbir Singh Tulla, Harmohinder Singh and Sudershan Singh.
