JAMMU, Jan 3: Various organisations of displaced Kashmiri Pandits have questioned the Government decision asking the migrants to fill up the NAFSA (National Automated Financial System Application) forms saying instead of settling the long standing demand of their permanent rehabilitation, the Government is unnecessarily creating a confusion among the community. The leaders of various organisations including Pradesh Congress Migrant Cell Chairman, Hira Lal Pandita, senior NC leader And former MLC, Bushan Lal Bhat, NC secretary, Jatin Bhat, Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) chief, Kundan Kashmiri, Congress Migrant Cell general secretary Chuni Lal Raina , Vinod Pandita a socio-political activist, Sanjay Chowgami of Vision Kashmir said while all details are lying with Relief Commissioner’s office what is the fun of asking the displaced people to fill up the NAFSA forms.
They said in last 36 years, hundreds of forms were filled up by displaced people from Valley but no concrete step was taken for their permanent rehabilitation in Kashmir. They said the displaced people are holding a temporary ration card and they have no permanent address. Even they are not allowed to cast their vote in local bodies and Assembly elections here and they are registered as voters in Valley where their residential houses were either razed to ground or were damaged during 36 year long turmoil. Hence the migrants from Valley have no permanent address. These leaders in an appeal to Government urged it that concrete steps be taken for their permanent settlement in Kashmir after which they will have no hesitation in filling up NAFSA forms.
Kundan Kashmiri Chairman KPC has written letters to Chief Secretary, Atul Dulloo and Administrative Secretary, DMRR seeking their personnel intervention in this regard. He said the Government order has created apprehensions among the relief holders who apprehend that this may be a ploy to cancel their relief so the Government should clear their doubts, he added.
