LEH, Oct 4: Minister for Animal, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries, Abdul Gani Kohli, who is on a 2-day visit to Leh, today chaired a high level meeting to review pace of various developmental works in the district.
Minister for Ladakh Affairs & Cooperative, Tsering Dorjey, Chief Executive Councillor LAHDC Leh Dr Sonam Dawa, Secretary Animal & Sheep Husbandry R.K Bhagat, Executive Councilors, Deputy Commissioner Leh Prasanna Ramaswamy, Directors of Fisheries, Animal and Sheep Husbandry Departments and other senior officers attended the meeting.
On the occasion, Kohli and Minister for Ladakh Affairs assured early sanctioning of the de-haring plant for the Sheep Husbandry Department on the demand of CEC LAHDC.
The CEC briefed the meeting about various issues being faced by different departments like non-functional machinery lying with Department of Animal Husbandry which needs technical help of the Government. He was assured of all possible help in this regard.
Kohli assured of all possible help in establishing animal birth control centre and help in expanding infra at animal birth control unit at Skara. Regarding the escalation of purchase price of cows, Minister for Ladakh Affairs Dorjey directed for forming a purchasing committee for the benefit of farmers.
During the meeting many important decisions like relocating the Stakna Angora Sheep Breeding Farm to Chang-loog Sheep Breeding Farm, shifting of double-humped Bactrian camels from Chuschot to Nubra, declaring of Fish Pond at Shey village as reserve water with aquarium for tourists, banning fishing and procurement of bigger size Yak from Arunachal Pradesh to Leh for hybriding purpose were taken.
Meanwhile, Kohli inaugurated a fish farm at Chuchot Shamma, Leh in presence of Minister for Ladakh Affairs & Cooperative Tsering Dorjey and MLA Leh Nawang Rigzin Jora.
Funded by National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) under its Environment Management Plan, the farm is being built at a cost of Rs. 1.18 crore.
