KKS shows concern over illegal felling of trees

KATHUA, Aug 13: President Kisan Kalyan Samiti Kathua-Hirangar Jai Dev Singh has shown grave concern over felling of trees in Billawar and Jasrota forests and smuggling of the same to neighbouring states.
In a statement issued today he demanded strong action against the smugglers and urged Forest Department should tighten its noose against the smugglers as felling of trees as a grave loss to forests as well as the farming community. Besides it is threatening the environment to a great extent and in case immediate steps were not taken to curb the felling of trees and the smuggling of wood it can have an adverse affect on the ecology.
Jaidev Singh also met District Development Commissioner Kathua and submitted a letter to him in this regard demanding punitive action against the smugglers who are hell bent to destroy the forests.
