JAMMU, Sept 17: An emergency meeting was held under the leadership of Ramesh Chander Mahajan chairman, Kashmiri Khatri Hindu Maha Sabha (KKHMS) with relief holders of Jammu and other place today.
The meeting expressed lot of resentment and serious concern over the deliberately suspension of monthly free ration to relief holders for the last three months living in camps and non camp areas.
As the relief holders are already in utter difficulty , facing a lot of financial crunch due to small meager amount provided by Government to relief holders while the present cash assistance of the migrants is not sufficient to meet the day to day expenses in view of heavy price hike on daily basis and essential commodities and other basic necessities like costly medicine , doctors consultation fees , tests and treatment and school fees etc , widows having no source of income are also in desperation. Some of families cannot fulfill their social liabilities.
Further due to suspension of ration by Director Food , Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs and Relief Department it is difficult to purchase ration in the market for the relief holders dependent on meager cash assistance.
He said the suspension of ration has led to starvation among relief holders. He demanded immediate release of ration of last three months so that relief holders do not suffer in future.
