JAMMU, Nov 19: A meeting of Kashmiri migrants, under the leadership of Ramesh Chander Mahajan Chairman cum president of the Kashmiri Khatri Hindu Maha Sabha, (KKHMS) was held today to voice profound resentment over the Government’s continued failure to resolve the rehabilitation issue of displaced Hindus from Valley. Mahajan emphatically declared that the Central and UT Governments have “totally failed in addressing the painful 36-year exile and accused them of maintaining stoic silence on the issue to compound their sufferings further.
During this exile, three generations of displaced Kashmiri Hindus have languished in displacement, creating a humanitarian crisis of historic proportions marked by betrayal and alienation.
Mahajan said ignoring the strong demands of displaced Kashmiri Hindus, reflect serious discontent among the people over the Government’s inaction. He urged the Government to immediately realize the gravity of the problem, act decisively, and end its piece-meal approach. The community forcefully reiterated its demand for the immediate execution of a concrete, time-bound plan for ‘rehabilitation and permanent settlement’. This plan must include comprehensive policies and packages that recognize the community’s immense pain and loss. These measures must deliver the dignity, resettlement, and justice that third and fourth generations deserve, ultimately ending their prolonged exile and ensuring the survival of the 5,000-year-old civilization of displaced Kashmiri Hindus.
