Kissan Council for action against mafia for denuding jungles

KATHUA, Feb 27: Expressing serious concern over felling of green trees and smuggling of Khair wood to neighbouring states from Kathua, jai Singh president, Kissan Council today said that illegal feeling of green trees is causing a grave threat to environment and the authorities need to take cognisance of the same.
Talking to Excelsior Jai Singh said hundreds of threes have been cut illegally in forest belt of twin districts of Kathua and Samba by the forest smugglers. He said despite bringing the matter in the notice of the concerned authorities of the Forest Department and administration no concrete steps are taken to ensure safety of the green gold. He said the illegal felling of threes in forest belt of twin districts is main cause of environmental pollution and flash floods.
He said recently in Lakhanpur area the wild animals had come into plain areas as mafia had cleaned maximum jungles and turned the jungles totally nude. He warned that in case the Forest Department fails to ensure safety of the jungles and take punitive action against the smugglers engaged in cleaning the forest areas the people will be forced to come to streets and launch a strong movement for protection of jungles in Jammu region.
