Kishtwar police challans 5596 vehicles, seizes 553

Kishtwar, Feb 7: In a major drive launched against violations of traffic rules and regulations, 5596 vehicles were challaned, 553 vehicles seized, 8 driving licenses suspended, 35 FIRs lodged at police station Kishtwar and fine of Rs 1426300 was imposed on the traffic violators .
This is the highest penalty ever imposed the District Police alongwith MVD Department & Traffic Police had laid special nakas to check traffic violations.
SSP Kishtwar Rajinder Kumar Gupta warned all the vehicles operators of the district of strict action against the menace of overloading. He further said that traffic violators are directly/ indirectly responsible for causing fatal road accidents leading to the loss of precious lives. He also appealed to people, who let their underage children to drive scooties/ motorcycles etc to refrain from such negligent acts. Gupta further said that the drive will continue till the violators get channelized to follow the traffic rules.Needless to mention that the FIRs have also been registered against road maintenance agencies for negligent acts in district Kishtwar & this has resulted in fruitful results
Gupta further said the apparent improvement on traffic front is being witnessed due to the undaunted efforts put in place by the stake holders.
